We offer a variety of texturing services to further customize your hardwood flooring. Our options include hand-scraping, wire-brushing, and circle or skip sawing. We have samples of each texture in our showroom to give you a close up of what each texture looks like. Texturing flooring is a great option for those looking for a rustic floor or for homeowners wanting to minimize the appearance of any scratches from daily life or pets.
Fuming is available as an add-on service to any white oak flooring order. This process begins with placing your white oak flooring into an ammonia chamber and turning on the gas. Over the coarse of 1-6 weeks, depending on the weather, the ammonia gas reacts with the moisture in the wood and darkens the natural tannins it contains. This process works the quickest in the warm, humid summer months, but can be completed during the winter as well. The white streaks you see in fumed white oak are not considered a defect, as it is the naturally occurring sap in the wood and it doesn’t take the fuming. Unlike other “fumed” finishes that can be applied like a stain, our fuming goes deep into the board and cannot be sanded off easily. The wood flooring naturally darkens to the color of walnut and when finished with a top coat of UV or Polyurethane, reaches a rich chocolaty brown without the use of stains.
